To the legal voters of Polk County Nebraska a caucus is called for March 1 1950 at 8 00 p m in the School District No 72 building to nominate two candidates for a three year school board seat and two for another three year term a following village caucus will nominate two candidates for a two year village board term and two candidates for another two year term for the Village of Polk Nebraska all within Polk County Nebraska

World Day of Prayer Observed at Polk Baptist Church
The World Day of Prayer will be observed Friday February 26 at 2 PM at Polk Baptist Church. Interdenominational and international in scope, the 1950 service was written by Miss Michi Kawai of Japan. Polk’s First Mortician Brauer Marked 53 Years of Marriage
Feature on Herman Brauer and Grace Menseen Brauer celebrating 53 years of marriage next Saturday February 25. Brauer, listed in Who’s Who in Nebraska as mortician and manufacturer, built Polk’s first house in 1906, ran a threshing business for 36 years, and served Polk as mortician for 21 years. He helped pave Polk’s streets, ran a concrete contracting business, and patented a surface mausoleum in 1938. He held public offices, led the volunteer fire department for 42 years, and remains a daily downtown presence at age 77.

The Polk County Chapter NFIP executive committee met at Edith Heilman's Osceola home on February 20 with Ethel Larson in attendance. Reports were incomplete though Stromsburg and Shelby submitted figures. Anderson noted $2615.16 deposited to date and Polk's tentative report over $350. Shelby's efforts included a PTA benefit that netted $132.53. An American Legion benefit is planned for February 26 to raise funds for Shelby's campaign.
