Frances Collett received a miscellaneous shower at the Martin Smith home on February 9 and announced her upcoming marriage to Alvin Smith. Blanche Leach daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Leach is noted in society notices.

Community notices from Swede Plain church meet and local visits
The Swede Plain WSCS met at the church on Wednesday afternoon February 14 with Mrs Nettie Carlson in charge. Health of the Navajo Indians was the lesson topic. Music included a solo by Mrs Roland Bodine and a vocal duet by Mrs Russel Fuell and Mrs Harvey Lind. Several ladies participated in a dialogue, and Mrs Walter Stohl read a poem "Valentines." Hostesses were Miss Mabel Shostrom and Mrs Curtis Flodman. A group of Rebekah Lodge ladies visited Mrs R E Merchant, recovering from an accident, sharing lunch. Visitors included the David Swanson family from Lincoln and visits to the C R Lindholm and George Heckman homes. Mrs Mennie Seymour hosted dinner with guests including Albert Hult, Herbert Flodman, and John Adelson. Edick A Anderson and family from Germany dined with Edith and Walter Anderson in Grand Island then planned a Salt Lake City trip. Rev Clifford Smith and Mrs Smith joined in. The Home Builders Class of Ev Free Church held a Valentine party with Bible quizzes and devotions on Hearts found in the Bible, followed by lunch. Mrs Roy Davenport of Aurora visited her daughter Mrs Lloyd Stromberg. Mr and Mrs Delwin Anderson of Oakland were guests of Mr and Mrs Oscar Sundberg. Edith Anderson, formerly Norma Nelson, was a Polk teacher. The Jones family visited the Calmar Johnson home and later the Quick home. Dean Ostberg, Ray Werner, and Reuben Anderson attended the Golden Glove tournament in Omaha.
