Legion Auxiliary Sees February Meeting Highlights
The Legion Auxiliary met at the Legion Hall on February 8. Delegates were elected to attend the Midwest conference in Grand Island on February 21 and 22. The group voted donations to the Little Red School House Heart Fund and Wooden Church Crusade. Members contributed clothing and supplies for Korean and Filipino children. A knitting display and a comforter sent to a veteran family in Omaha were noted. A book was donated to the library and a grocery shower honored August Nelson. Initiation chair Doris Ostberg set March plans for new members.

Baptist Church to Observe 70 Years Anniversary
The First Baptist Church will mark its 70th anniversary on Sunday February 28 with three services. Rev R M Bailey of Mead and a former Polk pastor will speak at the morning service. Polk Cagers Drop Two In Week Facing Genoa and Gresham
The Polk varsity lost to Genoa 60-53 and to Gresham 77-69 in a busy week. Reserve squads won both games 49-47 over Genoa and 32-22 over Gresham led by Gary Skaden, Gaylen Lind, Don Widg, and Jerry King. The Genoa game saw 86 free throws with Polk hitting 16 of 40 as Gresham featured Tobey and Hedrick. Kenny Werner led Polk with 24 in a high scoring affair. The season ends with the State District Elimination Meet at Monroe starting Monday, Polk facing Silver Creek at 9 p.m.
