Leanne Lind Wins Regional Elks Hoop Shoot Title

Leanne Lind defeated rivals from six states in the girls 10 11 regional Hoop Shoot in Kearney scoring 23 of 25 at the free throw line. Her closest challenger from Kansas managed 16. On March 6 she advances to the national contest in Kansas City Missouri to face ten regional champions and claim a trophy.

Scandinavian Mutual Holds 90th Annual Meeting

The Scandinavian Mutual Insurance Company held its 90th annual meeting on Tuesday afternoon February 8 at the Bit of Sweden in Stromsburg. President Myron Jones presided, noting eight straight years of growth and detailing losses by fire wind theft vandalism and multi peril. Treas. Kermit Branting presented a statistical report and income expense graph while Brian Beckner advised on policy changes. Myron Jones Melburne Olson and Maurice Newcomer were re elected directors for three years.
