Janet Kennel Birthday Celebrated at Local Party

Arborville items note Janet Kennel’s seventh birthday with a party at home after school. Teachers and first graders attended. a birthday lunch followed. Also baptized Brian Lynn Tenniges at Trinity Lutheran Church with family and friends guests from Omaha Seward Bradshaw and other local areas.

Obituary of Charles Arvid Necker

Charles Arvid Necker born in Sweden in 1873 came to America at nine with his parents. He lived near Polk and Hordville before settling in Hamilton Manor then Aurora hospital where he died at 92. He married Emma Erickson in 1896 and had three children Carl Gilbert Edna. He leaves two children two grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in Hordville.

Pleasant Home drive raises funds for March of Dimes

The East and West Pleasant Home Precincts completed a March of Dimes drive totaling 134.50 dollars. Co Chair man Dewey Sigler and Rural Precinct Chairman Mrs Irvin Anderson thank contributors and solicitors. Helpers include Leonard Johnson Milton Anderson Mrs Lloyd Widge Mrs Laurence Larson Alvin Dahlin Ralph Simpson Mrs Elton W. Peterson Harold Carlson Mrs Philip Johnson and Roger Werner. Also grateful for gifts from Faithful Workers and Happy Hour Clubs. Monday visitors to Mrs Hartwig Flodman were Mrs Albert Larson Mrs Chas S F Johnson and Miss Ruth Rudeen of Stromsburg.

The service was conducted by Reverend Alvin Moyer at Lindale Cemetery near Hordville. Burial followed the ceremony in the same cemetery.

Mrs Ruth Kroger Hosts Woman's Club Meeting

The Polk Womans Club met Tuesday evening February 8 at the home of Mrs. Ruth Kroger with Mrs. Clifford Hadley as co hostess. President Mrs. Verland Widga led a short business session while Mrs. Arnold Neuhaus presented articles on English and Literature and members joined a quiz on the lesson. Each member gave the slang expression that irritated them most.

Birthday tribute at Morris Johnson home in Stromsburg

Relatives gathered at the Morris Johnson residence in Stromsburg on Sunday to honor Mr Johnson on his birthday anniversary. Guests included Ollie Johnson C Marvin Fredrickson Kenneth Peterson Alfred Bailey Ansel Fredrickson Earl Johnson Fred White Mrs Freda Newman Jane Fredrickson and Kevin of Kearney. A carry in lunch was served. Mrs Walter Binford was a Wednesday dinner guest of Mrs Bessie Green.
