Polk Cubs edge Palmer 62 58 in late-season win

The Polk Cubs defeated Palmer 62 to 58 to notch their eighth win against six losses. Wayne Heiden led with 18 points, Don Sealey 14, Allan Neuhaus 10 while Palmer’s Bob Lemmerman had 18 and Dave Wegener 14. Next Friday the Cubs host Henderson.

Funeral for Fred Kuenzli in Columbus at 98

Funeral services were held today in Columbus for Fred Kuenzli age 98 who died in a Columbus hospital. He is the father of Mrs. Lyle Dornburgh of Polk. Mrs Kuenzli and four daughters are the immediate survivors.

Mr and Mrs Jim Wilson Return From Seven Week Southwest Trip

Mr and Mrs Jim Wilson returned home after seven weeks traveling through the West Southwest and South. They spent holidays with their daughter Mrs Bruce Lusignan and her family in Palo Alto California. The couple visited various sites along California Arizona New Mexico Texas and Louisiana and spent the first week of February in New Orleans for the national conference of the American Society of Range Management where Mr Wilson spoke.

Polk High Dramatics Team Shines at Goldenrod Festival

Eleven Polk High students competed at the Goldenrod Conference Dramatics Festival in Clarks on February 10. They earned three superior ratings six excellent one good and one fair. Individual honors include Connie LaVelle Lynda Van Ostrand and Lois Willis with top marks in interpretation and poetry. Teacher Mr Edward Booth accompanied the group.

The Evangelical Free Church held a welcome reception for new pastor Rev Harold Koelling and his wife on Monday evening February 7.
