Polk and Merrick county boards discussed Hazens bridge at Osceola due to dangerous weak condition. Polk board acted. Merrick to consider Friday. bridge to be barricaded to all traffic. Lumber shortage delays repairs for several weeks. once rebuilt it will support only light traffic. Bid notices for lumber appear in this paper.

Polk High School Postpones Grade Program Friday

Polk district reports postponement of a Friday grade program. Wampton Hawks defeated Polk 47 to 30 last Tuesday while the second team suffered a loss. Polk later rebounded with a 40 to 29 win over Henderson and the second team won 23 to 12.

More than 250 youths attended the Hastings District Mid Winter Institute held at the Methodist Church in York. The civil aeronautics commission recommends Osceola and Stromsburg in Polk County as Class I airports. Nebraska has 182 entries with 101 designated Class I. Each listed airport features a usable unpaved landing strip 1,800 to 2,700 feet long.
