Popular Polk Couple to Celebrate Fifty Years of Married Happiness

Mr and Mrs H Brauer celebrate their golden wedding at home in Polk next Sunday February 23. Polk pioneers for over forty years, Brauer served as Mayor and on the School Board. Their four daughters Lillie Baack Rosella Jose Viola Wall and Verbena Wurtz will join the celebration.

Gladys Irene McCoy Weds John Albert Andrews in Polk

Gladys Irene McCoy and John Albert Andrews wed Sunday February in Polk at 4 pm in a ceremony for about forty guests. Rev A C Bates officiated with music by Arthur Bates and Mrs Lloyd Kroger. The couple plans a ten day Gulf Coast trip before settling in Denver and Lowry Field.

About 30 neighbors gathered at Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Flodman’s Swede Home residence Monday evening to bid them farewell before their move to Stromsburg. The couple received a table lamp as a keepsake, and guests enjoyed a dainty lunch after a social evening.

Polk County Soil Conservation District Names Officers

The Polk County Soil Conservation District Supervisors elected Ray Brigham as Chairman Bruce Anderson as Vice-chairman George Bond as Secretary-treasurer. Other Supervisors are Gordon Fredrickson and Leo Kresha. The district aims to double erosion control efforts this year with contour planting on 2100 acres terraces 15 miles grassed waterways 60 acres. An irrigation push includes 13 systems to be installed or improved 600 acres leveled for irrigation and 6 miles of ditches to be built.

The Farm Credit Service crop loan program now operates from the Farmers Home Administration County Supervisor in Osceola Nebraska. The merger of Farm Security Administration and Emergency Crop and Feed Loan section creates a single county office handling crop loans and other supervised credit. Veterans loan support and general eligibility focus on those unable to obtain credit elsewhere.
