The Polk Progress is a weekly newspaper edited by Howard W. Herbes. It is entered as second class matter at the Polk Nebraska post office since March 21 1907 under the act of Congress of March 2 1879.
The column recalls a weekend in York with C E Cohagan and son Clifford boarding trains to Lincoln, visits by Fern and Alice Myers, and several local residents traveling to Omaha Lincoln and Hastings. It lists basketball double header results Polk girls 13 Benedict 10 and Polk boys 23 Chapman 14, plus community happenings and local travel.
Fifteen years ago on February 2, 1922 Lillian Brown spent Sunday in Bellwood with her sister Edith Anderson. Mrs Waack traveled to Schuyler on Monday to visit family and friends.
Fridhem Lutheran Church lists Lent services with German 9:45 and English 10:45, 3:30 radio service on KFAB, pastor Carl F. Juergensen. Swede Plains M E Church notes Sunday School 10 and worship 11, three Marquette Institute attendees, comments on cold weather and keeping up efforts.
Mission Church invites worshippers with Sunday School at 10:00 AM and Morning Worship at 11:00 AM. Evening service at 7:30 PM features guest speaker Dr. Gustaf Edwards from Chicago next Sunday. Youth meeting Wednesday at 7:30 PM and Junior Endeavor at the same time. Prayer meeting Friday at 2 PM at P. A. Hanquist’s home.
