Lincoln W. Banning reports Nebraska state gasoline tax collections for 1936 rose by 1,581,764 from 1935 to a total of 11,443,456 while gallonage climbed 6,956,366 gallons to 223,721,251. NYA Reports 10 Percent of College Students Worked

Washington DC NYA estimates about 10 percent of college and university students earned part of their expenses this year. Aubrey Williams says December 1936 figures show 124,818 students on NYA projects in 1,686 schools nationwide with total college enrollment at 1,788,000 and December allocations totaling $1,869,143.

Nebraska Water Conservation Ponds Answer Drought Need

Under the Water Conservation Program, 151 Nebraska farm ponds store about 3 231 acre feet of water on 710 acres. One ERA public lake dam under repair will hold 135 acre feet on 28 acres. The effort aims to aid drought stricken farmers and follows ERA relief work from 1934 to 1935, which created 419 ponds, repaired 42 irrigation projects, dug four emergency wells, built five public lakes, and more.
