Polk community chorus announces next practice on Sunday afternoon February 14 at 2 30 p m. Men are needed to join and audition.
The Ladies Societies from Baptist Trinity Lutheran and Evangelical Free Churches gathered with the Woman's Society of Christian Service at the Methodist Church on February 4. Speakers included E L Ferris and duets performed by Ferris Brandes and Saylor Adelson. About 100 attendees enjoyed a February motif at caves tables.
Osceola Bulldogs held off Polk in a 52 51 final, with Allan Gissler limited by fouls late. Sagehorn 17 and Carlstrom 15 led Cubs. Bowe 13 and Gissler 12 paced Osceola. Second game saw Polk win 60 58 as Kropatsch scored 21 for Osceola.
Polk defeats Bradshaw 88 63 at Bradshaw court led by 16 points from Dennis Carlstrom and Gary Sagehorn and 13 from Bob Rahrs. Polk jump to 26 13 first period lead and never trail. B team also wins 56 22 while Osceola edges Polk 52 51 in main event.
Gust E. Seaquist died Jan 29 in Central City hospital. A Hordville resident since 1919 he ran a blacksmith shop and service station. Born in Nybro Kalmar län Sweden Dec 2 1889 he emigrated to Chicago at 19 and moved to Hordville in 1919. He married Martha Engstrom in Chicago Sept 8 1912. Survived by wife four daughters four sons one brother and four sisters. Funeral Feb 3 at Salt and Byers with Masonic rites. burial at Central City cemetery.
A large Polk community gathering at the Polk Veterinary Office last Saturday introduced Dr. C R Johnson as the new member of the Central City Veterinary Clinic. Attendees enjoyed coffee and doughnuts as they met him and wished him success in his work here.
The Home Society Club held its annual Card Party on Saturday evening February 6 at Community Hall. Eight tables competed with Viola Babcock and Harold Miller achieving high scores while Dorothy Ang and Emory Cramer placed lows. Jim Brazda Sr. earned the traveling prize. Minnie Miers and Mrs Richard Johnson managed tallies prizes and coffee. In observance of her 80th birthday Mrs Jenni Johnson Hardville will host open house February 14 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. No gifts please.
