January club meeting and local notices recap
The Country Woman's Club met January 28 at Mrs Sundberg's home with 13 members and 3 visitors. Activities included a program on The New Year and January, games, and lunch. Also reports note Pvt Calvin Hamblin's Pershing Missile exercise at Fort Wingate January 27-28 and a Derby England death. Norton proposes locating Polk county Indian camping sites for a map to be kept at the Historical Society.

Ruzicka and Rettke Wedding in Los Angeles Nuptials
Irene Ruzicka and Robert Rettke united in marriage at St. Eugene Catholic Church Los Angeles with a Nuptial Mass officiated by Rev. Joseph George. The ceremony featured white satin, red velvet gowns for attendants, orchids for the bride and a 350-guest reception. The couple will reside in Hawthorne California after a two week Mexico trip.

Polk and Stromsburg split the season series after Stromsburg beat Polk 67 to 57 in a Goldenrod conference game. Calvin Stream scored 25 and Gregg Wilhelms 23 for Stromsburg. Dennis Carlstrom led Polk with 16 points and 19 rebounds. Polk faces Osceola next on Friday.
