Polk County Nebraska board met February 3 1938 in regular session. Claims were audited and warrants drawn against County General Fund Special Bridge Fund and other accounts for salaries supplies rents and expenses with adjournment set for February 19 1938. chairman S J Harless and county clerk John I Anderson signed.

John Deere Tractor Simpler to Maintain and Service

The passage argues that reducing parts in a JOHN DEERE tractor simplifies maintenance. It suggests using two cylinders instead of four or six, ten rings instead of sixteen to thirty, two connecting rods instead of four or six, and four valves to grind instead of eight or twelve, leading to easier upkeep and reliable performance.

Jury Draw Listed From Tax Schedules for February 1938 Term

County Board of Commissioners selects a list of prospective jurors from tax schedules for the February 1938 District Court term. Names include Hackberry and North Osceola districts with numerous residents such as William Bachman, Edward Watke, Leo Albers, A. E. Schlingman, Herbert Anderson, Adolph Carlson, Emil Allison, and Everett Anderson among others. The protest over a tax receipt loss was found valid and $93.80 refunded.

Notice to Contractors Shelby Rising City Project bids opened

Sealed bids for grading culverts and incidental work on Shelby Rising City Project No. 29 Unit 2 Federal Aid Road will be received in Lincoln Nebraska on February 17 1938 before 10:00 AM and publicly opened. The work covers 6.6 miles graded earth road with specified quantities and labor wage requirements. Plans may be inspected in Osceola David City and Lincoln offices. Bonds required 100 percent. bid must include certified check.
