Way Back When Ten Years Ago February 1928

Local residents share visits across area communities

A flurry of home visits and social calls spans Benedict Clarks Stromsburg and surrounding towns. Families including the Emkens, Bryants, Craters, and Greens hosted or visited relatives, while Marjorie Hahn traveled from Chicago for a short stay with the Hahns and other relatives.

Live Stock Prices at South Omaha February 8 1938

Receipts of cattle at Omaha Monday totaled 7 000 head with broad demand from local packers and shippers. Trade was active and prices rose 15 25 cents from last week with top steers at 8 75 and choice heifers at 7 25. Trade in stockers and feeders was quiet though values trended higher.

W C T U Meeting Highlights Life of Frances Willard

The Polk column reports the W C T U group met at Mrs Ida McConnell's home with Mrs J Montzin leading a program on the Life of Frances Willard. Community members share visits, weekend travels, and a 39th wedding anniversary celebration at the parental home with a courteous luncheon. Local ads note hair waves and perm services for 1.50 at Moderne Beauty Shop.
