Infrared photography uses waves longer than visible light and requires specially sensitized film. During the war infrared photoflash bulbs enabled pictures in blackouts by coating ordinary bulbs to absorb visible light, while filters transmit infrared rays.

Caxton the first English printer and early works

William Caxton born about 1422 became England's first printer. He learned in Cologne and printed Recuyell about 1474. Returning in 1476 he set up a Westminster press and issued a 1476 indulgence. In 1477 he produced the first dated book in England with patronage from the Earl of Arundel who paid him a buck each summer and a doe each winter.

Growth in Tree Farm Certifications Expands National Totals

The program added 14 western pine 5 southern pine and 19 Tennessee tree farms and added over 100000 acres to four Texas industrial farms, raising totals to more than 1250 units and about 14.25 million acres. First certifications are planned for Virginia and Pennsylvania, aiming for over 15 million acres in a few months.

Notice to Federal Income Taxpayers for 1947 Returns

The calendar year 1947 income tax return must be filed by March 15, 1948 with the district Collector of Internal Revenue. A Deputy Collector will attend the Polk County Courthouse Osceola on February 18 and 10 1948 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to offer free advice. Any taxpayer with 1947 income of $500 or more must file using withholding statement or Form 1040.
