On January 9 1856 Mrs Amelia Bloomer spoke to a crowded Nebraska Territorial Legislature urging votes for women. General Larimer backed a franchise bill but the House passed it only to adjourn before the Senate acted, leaving the outcome unresolved as opponents presented Larimer with a petitioned petticoat.

Mrs. Anna Shambaugh Dies After Illness in 1948
Anna Julia Sealey born October 17 1876 in Jackson County Iowa, dies January 18 1948 after a week of illness. She married Zack Sundberg in 1895, moved to Canada in 1910 where he died in 1915, later married Arthur Shambaugh in 1943. Survived by husband, five Sundberg sons Carl Guy Merle Lloyd Otis, daughter May Parker in Alberta, two stepchildren, and multiple grandchildren. Funeral attendees included Gust Westlund and local relatives.

Obituary for Lars Gustaf Westlund 1884 1948
Lars Gustaf Westlund was born March 2 1884 in Bilinys Sweden and immigrated to America in 1920. He settled in Polk Nebraska in 1923, served as street commissioner, married Ida Bjorfman on September 10 1925, and died January 28 1948 at Stromsburg Hospital aged 68 years 10 months 26 days. He leaves his wife, four sisters, two brothers and many relatives. Funeral held January 31 at Brauer Funeral Home and Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Milford Olson. interment at Mamme cemetery. Out of town mourners listed.
