Hennie Josephine Seymour daughter of Axel and Betty Renquist born Rock Island Illinois June 1 1878 died December 17 at Osceola hospital age 86. She moved to Nebraska as a child, married John P. Seymour April 28 1896, lived on a Polk area farm, retired 1924 then moved to Polk. Survived by brother Albert Renquist three daughters Garnet Priese Opal Hughes Ree Anderson, five grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Funeral at Polk Methodist Church with Rev Harold Jensen. burial Pleasant Hill Benedict.

Faithful Workers held a Christmas luncheon and program at the Corner Cafe and Mrs Harold Miller home with gift exchanges and poems. The Country Woman's Club gathered at Mrs Richard Widge's home on Thursday afternoon December 17 with 14 members and 3 visitors. The meeting opened with prayer and a poem by Mrs Ollie Johnson, followed by a song and the flag salute. Lois Meerkatz and Garnet Miller led the program. the group sang White Christmas and read a Christmas poem The Silent Night. Members revealed their secret pals from the past year by describing themselves and guessing identities. Lunch was served by hostess Mrs Widga.

Arborville club hosts Christmas program and gift exchange
The Arborville Community club met December 17 at Mrs Leo Litty’s home with Mrs Wilfred Stephens and Mrs Litty in charge of a Christmas program in which each member took a part. A gift exchange and reveal of secret sisters followed, then a lunch of Christmas cookies and ice cream. The Osceola hospital staff held a Christmas party at Kings Ballroom Shelby with fifty three attending including doctors nurses and staff.

Cubs defeat Polk and St Edward in Goldenrod action
Polk rolled over Genoa 51 38 Tuesday night in Goldenrod conference play. Dennis Sealey led Polk with 15 points and Carlstrom 21 rebounds as Polk won 51 38. Polk also beat St Edward 72 32 before Christmas with Sagehorn 17 points and Carlstrom 20 rebounds.
