Public invited to Immanuel Lutheran for Christmas Eve at 6:00 with Rev. A Wagner delivering the message. Grade School to Present Christmas Operetta Red Candles

Elementary grades 2-6 perform the Christmas operetta Red Candles on Tuesday December 22 at 7:30 PM in the High School Gym. Kindergarten and 1st grade will sing Christmas songs. Students have worked hard to learn their parts and songs and invite all to attend.

Polk High School will stage a Christmas Concert on Thursday December 17 at 730 PM in the high school gym. Featured acts include the varsity band the A Cappella Choir and girls and boys glee clubs. Mr and Mrs Charles Norquest and Mr and Mrs Myron Norquest attended a family dinner at York Auditorium on Sunday.

Cubs Triumph 59 33 Over Creekers Friday Night

Cubs led 14 0 early and cruised to a 59 33 victory over Silver Creek. Mark Albin and Wylli Foote led scoring with 16 each. Mundt Glasser Bills added 6. Neuhaus hit 4 on debut. Silver Creek's Valasek led visitors with 15. Cubs advance to St Edward, Holiday Tournament bracketing set for Bradshaw and Hampton on Dec 29 30. Bernard Litty and wife toured western sites during trip home.

H S Chorus To Attend Choral Clinic

Albion High School vocal director Carol Brennan invites the Polk chorus to join the choral clinic in Albion on January 15 16. She notes attendance limits due to past overcrowding and allows Polk to bring 41 students equal to 45 percent of their high school enrollment.

Webolos Scouts Tour Lumber Yard and Bake Cookies

The Webolos visited Stromsburg November 24 to tour a lumber yard and review wood types shingles and building materials. Bev Burney supplied a sack lunch. December 1 they gathered at Mark Clymer's home then visited Dr. Kim’s new garage to collect lumber for projects. December 8 they met again at Clymer’s and baked Christmas cookies for shut ins.

Legion Auxiliary December Meeting Report

The American Legion Auxiliary met at the Legion Hall on Monday December 14 with President Janice Saylor presiding. New member Kay Nielsen was welcomed and 26 Christmas boxes were sent to servicemen. The group approved donations to Radio Free Europe Cancer Heart Fund Red Cross and March of Dimes. Senior Auxiliary led a Christmas program with narration by Jean Nielsen and a hymn sing. Junior Auxiliary girls performed a skit and a gift exchange preceded a pot luck lunch for 37 seniors and guests.
