Lee Morris Swede-Lind and I spent Saturday morning along a three mile stretch of the Platte between Grand Island and Doniphan helping with a Christmas bird count conducted by a Grand Island bird club. Most of the river bottom is owned by Wayne Foster. area lies east of Camp Augustine and old Highway 281. Main challenge was spotting birds as they were scarce besides a large crow flock.
