The Golden Wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Quick of Hordville was celebrated at Fridhem Lutheran Church with a program, music, and gifts from 175 guests. The couple, married December 13, 1900, have lived on a Polk County farm area and in Hordville since 1946, with 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren among their large family.

Mrs. O. F. Alfred and Mrs. Nels Pearson learn of the death of their brother E. T. Lindeburg of Hinsdale Illinois who died Friday morning on his way to work. He is survived by a wife and a Sioux City brother Elmer and Mrs Pearson travels to Hinsdale for the funeral rites.

Young Adult Fellowship Hosts Holiday Meeting
The Young Adult Fellowship of the Methodist Church met Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hill and Mr. and Mrs Everett Green assisting. Mrs Merle Strom berg and Mrs. Kenneth Stewart led an unusually large program featuring Christmas customs from other lands, a solo by Mrs. James Lindburg, and a Christmas thought by Mrs. Glen Hill. Plans were made to remember shut ins, and the group will send an autographed Bible to former member Jesse Bradley now in service. A delicious lunch was served.

Don Person Injured in Car Train Collision
Don Person was seriously injured when his car struck a Union Pacific train on December 5 near Polk. The car was damaged from the collision with the train side, leaving him with a broken collar bone, a broken ankle, a brain concussion, and facial injuries. Poor visibility from frosted windows and windshield contributed to the crash. he was taken to Stromsburg Hospital.

Guessing Contest Offers Much Excitement at Polk clubs
Polk Commercial Club held a day of guessing contests across many shops. Former Silver Creek editor Dye Davis dies at 61
Dye F. Davis, longtime editor of the Silver Creek Land, died Saturday at his home after a period of illness. He 55 had published the paper for 47 years and sold the Silver Creek Land last summer. Funeral and burial were held Tuesday in Silver Creek.
