Local Bridal Shower and Weekend Visits Report

Mrs Duane Newton and Barbara and Mrs Ernest Lott attended a bridal shower for Miss Marla Lott at the home of Mrs Robert McMeekin in Shelby Saturday night. Ilos Ostberg and family visited North Platte with relatives Lyle Nelson over the weekend. Sunday dinner guests in the Rol and Rodine home included Mrs Paul Hertel of Deerfield Illinois and Mr and Mrs Wilmer Rodine.

Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Aid Christmas Party Notes

The Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Aid held its annual Christmas party Sunday evening in the church parlor with 81 attendees. A covered dish supper, a Christmas message by Pastor Kreft, a flannelgraph, carols by children, and a gift exchange concluded the evening.

Polk County honors Wayne Logan family as Outstanding Conservation

Wayne Logan family of Shelby and Frank Mytholar of Shelby were named Polk County Outstanding Conservation Family at the Polk County Recreation Club House on December 2. The award, co sponsored by Farmers Co op and First National Bank of Shelby, recognized the Logan land improvement including a designed irrigation system with two wells and irrigation of most of their 240 acres. The project features 2600 feet of diversions 4100 feet of drainage land leveling and a tailwater reuse pit. The 13th annual district award was announced at the Polk County Soil and Water Conservation District and Extension Service meeting attended by 55 with reports from ASCS Manager Eugene Sterup weed control chief Harry Sterup Extension Agent Ken Krieg and conservationist Jim Eriksen. Conservation Citations from Governor Tiemann were presented to Honor Farm Families for 1968 and 1967. Miss Jane Fredrickson and Nick Engle stayed for a 6 pm dinner with Mr and Mrs C M Fredrickson and attended a Fred Waring concert in Grand Island.
