County Agent: Sheep Scab Eradication Nears Nebraska Certification
The sheep scab eradication program in eastern Nebraska counties moves toward full certification as scab free. Federal and state veterinarians began in December 1963 and plan to finish this month. Polk county flocks will be inspected between December 21 and 24 with a second check December 28 to 31. The process is simple, requiring a quick flock observation to detect the mite. Complete county examination ensures eligibility for interstate movement. Farmers with sheep not present in December last year are urged to notify the extension office. The note also announces availability of the federal Farm Tax Guides at local banks and offices, and the blue Farm Account Books for farm records from the college of agriculture. CUT OWN TREES
