Miss Louise Baack and Norman Reetz were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church Sunday evening. Rev A C Warneke officiated with Nuptial music by Richard Dankert and solos by Lewis Driewer. The couple will reside in Lincoln after a reception at the bride’s home.
Mrs Ansel Lindquist is reported to be in the hospital at Stromsburg. The brief item notes her admission and current condition without medical details.

Mr and Mrs Ansel Fredrickson spent Monday in Lincoln.
The Board of Trustees of Nebraska Central College announces Lt. Carl J Wells Jr as director of athletics. He recently returned from the South Pacific after flying 54 missions over Japanese held territory and has prior athletics and coaching experience. Wells attended Ansley High School St Joseph Junior College and Nebraska Wesleyan. He plans to arrange schedules and recruit athletes for next year.
Relatives hosted Edna Peterson’s birthday gathering at her Osceola home. Updates note Robert Peterson’s appendectomy in Stromsburg and siblings traveling from Osceola to Omaha Gary Indiana to visit Mildred Rech and Mrs Carl Rose. Announce Shirley Richmond and Charles M. Phillips marriage in Lafayette Indiana on November 13.
Miss Eveline Hildebrandt and Edward Recknor were united in marriage at Swope Park Baptist Church Kansas City on November 18 1945 with Dr George M Johnson officiating The bride wore a light blue suit and pink rosebud corsage The groom recently returned from four and a half years service in the army and the couple will farm nearby The reception and dinner followed at local homes with attendance by family and friends.
Mrs John Joseph 83 died at the home of her son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Walter Stach in St Paul Minnesota after a lingering illness. Born October 19 1862 in Mecklenburg Germany she came to the United States in 1869. She would have observed her 58th wedding anniversary December 25 1878. Survived by husband two daughters Mrs Wahkter Stach and Mrs Martin Marolin two sons William J and Ludwig Joseph of St Paul 15 grandchildren 14 great grandchildren. Private family services were held in St Paul with Rev F J Seltz officiating interment at Emhurst cemetery.
Misses Voyllis Cramer Gloria Peterson and Arthur Bates joined Ald Benson and S A Ramp in Fremont for three days last week attending the 10th annual meeting of the Nebraska Music Educators Association.
The Junior Class Play So Help Me Hannah arrives Friday night December 7 in the High School auditorium with tickets at Davis Pharmacy. Senior Class members ordered commencement announcements this week. A feature film screens in the High School Auditorium Friday night December 12.

Kingsburg California's Stanley E. Lindquist known as Private Buck will speak at the Evangelical Free Church on Tuesday December 11 at 8 p.m. He is an army medical aid man who lost an eye and suffered multiple injuries in Germany and will share wartime experiences and songs. The event supports the Gold Star Memorial Fund aiding a Canton and Hong Kong radio project.
Polk County hosts its 2nd annual Corn Show opening Monday with entries received in Osceola courthouse community room. Over 150 in cash prizes plus awards from the Osceola Chamber of Commerce, plus a Ladies Quilt Show, home made farm implements display, state college demonstrations, Friday judging, pancake feed, and prize lists for quilts and crafts.
Four Stromsburg people were hurt early Monday when their car skidded on an icy road at the Big Turn west of Osceola. Wallace Sherwood suffered a broken leg and was taken to St Francis hospital. his wife had bruises and possible jaw fracture. Bud Johnson and spouse received bruises and cuts but were not seriously injured.
The marriage of Arline Fietsam to Vernon L Swanson took place on Thursday November 8 with Rev Ivory Crites performing the ceremony. The groom, a Camp Fannin dischargee, will reside in San Antonio as the newlyweds begin their life together. Attendants included Mrs Ollie Flinn and Miss Betty DeSha, while Mrs Sam Stone oversaw the bride's book.

Lt James Wickstrand reports arrival in Manila with current stationing there.
