German Band Steals Show at Aurora Football Banquet
About fifteen Polk Commercial Club members and the German Band entertained Aurora at the Chamber of Commerce annual football banquet Monday evening. The Nebraska Song drew a standing clap from the crowd, Coach Biff Jones of Nebraska University was the honored guest, and Jones answered questions on Nebraska’s 1937 team. Fred Shirey presented Nebraska Minnesota football game photos. Attendees from Polk included F. W. Davis and others.

Funeral services for Will Backlund in Stromsburg
Funeral services for 78 year old Will Backlund pioneer resident of Polk County were held at his home and the Baptist church in Stromsburg. Rev Gust Carlson led the service. He moved from Illinois to Polk County at thirteen and operated a farm between Stromsburg and Osceola. He died at home after several weeks illness. He is survived by his wife, three sons Theodore and Alvin of Burlington Colorado and Victor of Omaha and one daughter Mrs E C Swanson of Stromsburg.

Mr and Mrs A Isaacson with Mr and Mrs Donald Johnson traveled to McPherson Kansas last Friday evening where Isaacson sold the unimproved eighty acres of the Clara Brock estate to Stanford Anderson of McPherson.
