In Polk the Republicans beat the Democrats 12 to 7 in a nine inning softball tilt. Otto Wiiishusen steered the winners while Adlai Lassie led the Democrats. Victim of Drowning at Farm Tank
Joseph Michael Jisa aged two years three months died after slipping into a farm stock tank near Central City on August 16. His twin brother Jimmy and parents survived along with grandparents and relatives. Funeral services were held August 19 at St Michael's Church with burial in Central City Cemetery.

Polk Softballers Ride Early On Osceola For 14 9 Win
Polk softballers defeated Osceola 14 to 9 under the Polk lights. Bud Bolton Clarence Rahrs and Art Phillips hit home runs. Dick Sagehorn started for Polk, relieved by Phillips in the fourth. It marks Polk’s second straight win over Osceola after a 7 to 4 victory at the County Fair. A game with Stromsburg is planned for Friday at Polk.
