Leroy Bills Returns After Air Force Discharge

Nebraska announces a two zone pheasant season starting October 17 with Zone 2 limited to October 17 through 26 and Zone 1 running until November 23. Completes First Phase of Aviation Training
Naval Aviation Cadet Ernest H Gleim son of Mr and Mrs Elmer I Gleim completed the first phase of his aviation training with a solo flight earning Navy Wings of Gold and a commission as Ensign in the United States Navy. He attended Osceola High School and Polk High School and Norfolk Junior College, entered the Naval Cadet program at Lincoln Nebraska, did pre flight at Pensacola Florida and reported to Whiting Field Milton Florida on June 17 1962.

Deer Permit Applications Deadline Set for August 30
Nebraska Game Commission reports over two thousand applications to date for deer permits with 2,248 bucks and 1,560 does. Deadline for postmarking is August 30. A drawing for 1,500 buck and 1,000 doe permits will be Tuesday September 16 in the State House with public attendance invited. Deer season runs December 1 to 7 for bucks and December 8 to 14 for does.

Obituary of William Lind and Family Ties
William Lind born July 1 1866 in Galva Illinois died August 22 1952 in Polk Nebraska at 86.1.21. He married Betty Wing in 1895 and had four children. The family farmed in Minnesota and North Dakota before moving to California then returning to Polk. Survived by daughter Agnes Gustafson sons Rolland Raymond Arthur five grandchildren one great grandchild siblings and many relatives. Services held August 25 at Swede Plain Church with Rev Milton O Connor. interment Swede Plain Cemetery. Musicians and pallbearers named.
