Lind Family Reunion at Buckley Park in Stromsburg
The eleventh Lind family reunion gathered at Buckley Park Stromsburg on Friday Aug 12 with 83 attendees. A noon chicken dinner was served and a fund was approved to cover incidentals. 4-H Camps Conclude in Seward Nebraska
The 4-H club completed three camps in Seward Nebraska last week. Two district camps for 4-H youth and leaders ran August 1 3 and August 4 7 attracting 21 participants from Polk County. Farmers Union Picnic Draws Large Polk County Crowd
A county wide Farmers Union picnic drew 500 to 600 people to Polk city park last Thursday. Activities included a basket dinner, a Polk School Band concert led by Robert Strickland, speeches by H. G. Keeney and others, games such as sack races and ball games, and a county tug o war title won by Ostberg’s team from Polk. Local unions from Osceola Stromsburg Shelby and Polk attended and praised the park as ideal for the event.

C A Green Ends Life at Stromsburg
Clarence A. Green 64 of Lincoln, a former lieutenant governor candidate, died by suicide in a Stromsburg cemetery. The case was not pursued an inquiry. Green had faced defeat in the Republican primaries and left behind a career in barber supply and politics. Survived by wife Olive, son Kenneth, his mother, and brother Guy.
