Frog Pond School Holds Annual Reunion
The Frog Pond School alumni gathered August 13 1939 at Polk Park with 82 attendees. A Wilcox was elected president and A W Shafer secretary treasurer. Emma Carlson joined the committee. attendees enjoyed a dinner and social hour with songs and hopes of meeting again next August. Two early pupils from 1874 Wm Cohagen and E B Koon of York attended with their mother noted as the first teacher.

Lind Reunion Brings Lind Family Together at Buckley Park
The Lind families held their annual reunion picnic at Buckley Park in Stromsburg on August 8. Seventy six relatives attended a noon chicken dinner followed by sports, visiting, a short business session, roll call, and three generations photographed. Joy Alexander Lind appeared as the eldest great grandchild. Galyn Ardell Lind was born to Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Lind since last year.
Dairy leader Richard Myers resigns to lead Polk service
Richard Myers, longtime principal in Craig Nebraska, resigns to become manager of the Myers Ice and Dairy Service in Polk. His brother Gene Myers, who has run the Craig operation since their father Z F Myers died in 1937, plans to move to Los Angeles after September 1.

Nebraska Adopts New Speed Limit Law In Effect September
The Nebraska speed law passed by the last legislature goes into effect September 8. It sets a maximum speed of 60 mph for daylight driving and 50 mph at night. State highway patrolmen have orders to enforce the new law.

The sixty annual Polk County fair starts next Monday at Osceola with an extra entertainment day.
