Eva Fox Weds Grant Johnson at Milford Methodist Parsonage

Mrs Eva M Fox became the bride of Grant Johnson in a seven oclock July 30 ceremony at the Milford Methodist parsonage. Rev Paul W Walker officiated. Guests included Mrs Emma Johnson and relatives from Lincoln Seward Polk and Milford. They will live on the Polk area farm after a two week Kansas Missouri honeymoon.

Lee Bayer born in Dar nm Denmark is Polk's radio man since moving seven years ago after answering an ad. He served in the U S Army as a radio operator and later worked in irrigation and metal work. He built Polk's first TV and polaroid camera, married in 1930s, and both engage in civic service and postoffice work.

Orlie Conkling announces Kenneth Smith of Fremont as Polk County agent designate with office in Osceola. A Nebraska University Agricultural College graduate, Smith was Dodge County assistant agent and starts September 15. He is married with a two month old daughter.

All Star Softball Voting Nears Deadline

Fans are urged to vote by midnight Saturday August 9 for the All Star softball teams to be played August 19. Voters select two players for each infield position and pitcher plus eight outfielders, total twenty players, then submit ballots to the Progress office for tallying and public inspection.

Bids Sought for 69000 Cubic Yards of Nebraska Highway Gravel

Contractors are invited to bid on supplying and placing more than 69000 cubic yards of maintenance gravel across 641 miles of Nebraska highways in 27 counties under a Department of Roads and Irrigation call set for August 28. In Polk and Hamilton counties about 2890 cubic yards will be added to Highway 66 between US 81 and Neb 14 intersections.

Polk Midgets comeback victory over St. Paul 7 to 6 after trailing 5 2 in the sixth inning. Butch Paben Don Widga Gwen Johnson Jerome Light and Charles Long keyed Polk's late offense. Charles Lorg delivered the go ahead hit in the seventh with two runs scoring on a passed ball and error as Denny Cramer and Carroll Shenk pitched for Polk.
