Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Gustafson celebrated their Silver Wedding Anniversary with an open house on Sunday August 3. Almost 100 relatives and friends attended despite heat. A program featured nieces, singing, instrumental numbers, poems and a talk by Rev. A C Bates. Gifts included a silver coffee serving set and a three tier cake from their sons Roger and Richard. The couple, married near Hordville 25 years ago, reside on a farm north of Polk.

John Gerber 59 died Sunday morning August 3 at the state hospital in Kearney after an extended illness. He lived with the Wieseman family in the valley for 36 years with services Tuesday at 11 at a church southeast of Monroe and interment there. Miss Anna Swanson 71 died Sunday at a Stromsburg hospital. services were held Wednesday at the Swofit Home Church with interment in the cemetery. Ray Graham 51 died Monday morning at a Kearney hospital. survivors include his widow and several children. Funeral services are Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Fairview Church.
