Guests attended a Longmont Colorado open house for Mr and Mrs Roy Ehn marking their 40th wedding anniversary. Attendees included Reuben Ehn Harold Kuck Chet Johnson Harold Carlson and Elwood Sandell Frances Widga among others from St Libory McCook and Rockford Illinois.
Polk Baptist Church welcomed new pastor Al Magnussen and his family on Sunday evening. Floyd Merchant read Scripture and led prayer. Youth singers and Sunday School classes presented gifts to the Magnuses, with piano and vocal performances by Deb Lindburg and Dean Lindburg.
The Swede Plain United Methodist Women met in the church parlor on Wednesday afternoon April 13. Mrs Arthur Samuelson led the business session with program leaders Mrs Ted Dittmer and Mrs Lloyd Widga. A piano solo Open the Gates of the Temple was played by Mrs Willard Adelson. The Easter message Eternal Life Eternal Joy was presented by Mary Dittmer Anna Marie Widga Al pene Sohl Agnes Lindgren and Maxine Garner. A vocal duet by Mrs Willard Adelson and Mrs Wallace Lind followed by an Easter poem read by Mrs Lloyd Widga completed the program. Hostesses Mrs Verland Widga and Mrs Alvena Lind served Lund.
Emma C. Johnson, 88, had funeral services today at 10 a.m. in the Evangelical Free Church of Polk with interment at Stromsburg Cemetery. Survivors include brother Olav Sundberg of Polk. Obituary to follow next week.
Senior Citizens Card Party scheduled for Tuesday April 26 at 2 00 p m at the Legion Hall.
Mr and Mrs Ron Adams announce the birth of a baby daughter Amber Jamee born Saturday April 16 at York Hospital weighing 10 pounds. Mr and Mrs Darryl Fossberg of Lincoln announce the birth of a baby daughter Emily Suzanne born April 13 weighing 7 pounds 10 ounces.
Polk County Republican Women's Branch and program set for Monday May 2 at 9 30 a m at Stromsburg Viking Center. A program will be presented by the Mother Singers from Polk. Attendees urged to call Mrs Wallace Sandell Mrs Don Hanquist or Mrs Reuben Hanquist for details.
Mr. Alvin Dahlin returned home Friday after several weeks in a Lincoln hospital. Mr. David Ring is a patient in the Osceola hospital.
Benedict hosts an All-Sports Banquet Saturday night with Tom Morris and Ida Petro crowned King and Queen. Attendees include Mr and Mrs Walter Stahl, Mr and Mrs C, Marvin Fredrickson, and Arlette Johnson with Jenifer at a York dinner Sunday.

Mr and Mrs Kenneth Hambline and family of Omaha were Saturday overnight guests in the Earl Stevens home.
Lynn Ludlow of Mill Valley California spent 24 hours in Polk at the Polk Progress editor’s home with guests Charles Wolverton of Vancouver and Orrin Alfred of San Francisco. A champagne bottle shattered on the sidewalk, Swedish meatballs were served, and Ludlow slept on a collapsing camp cot before heading to New York for an award.
