A kindergarten pre-registration will be held at Polk grade school on Friday May 4 for students entering in the 1962 63 school year.

Roy Ehns Celebrate Silver Wedding Date

About 40 relatives joined Mr and Mrs Roy Ehn in Polk Community Hall for their silver wedding anniversary. The hall featured pink and silver decor and a floral centerpiece from Alvin Ehn of Omaha. Hosts and hostesses received corsages and a luncheon was served by Mrs Arthur Eckdahl and others. Attendees came from Omaha Lincoln Scottsbluff Neligh Central City St Libory Polk.

Regy Green Earns Shrine Bowl South Squad Spot

Polk's Regy Green, 6-1 180, end for Polk High, earned a berth on the 33 man South team for the Nebraska Shrine Bowl. The fourth annual game set for August 18 at Memorial Stadium will gather 66 seniors from 37 schools with practice starting August 6. Coach Cliff Dale leads the South. Don Leahy guides the North. Proceeds benefit crippled children through Shrine hospitals.

Polk Wins County Track Crown

Polk Cubs dominated the Polk County meet on the local oval winning 9 of 14 events led by Regy Green with 4 firsts and 24 points. Osceola collected 5 blue ribbons, while Stromsburg and Shelby trailed. Hahn scored 18 points with wins in the 100 and broad jump and 220. A strong wind kept records intact. The 880 saw Osceola’s Larry Miley edge Shelby’s John Abbott. Polk’s 880 relay timed 1 39.8 with Stromberg Kroger Green Hahn.

Obituary for William A. Ziegelbein of Polk Nebraska

William A. Ziegelbein born May 26 1884 near Polk Nebraska died April 17 1962 at age 77 years 10 months 21 days. He lived in Concordia Missouri and Hamilton County Nebraska before retiring to Polk. He married Viola Anna Alvina Smith on November 25 1928 and leaves wife three sons Kenneth Charles Allen a daughter Ruth Whight seven grandchildren and many relatives. Funeral services were held.
