Immanuel Lutheran Church Polk Nebraska announces Sunday School at 9 45 A M and Divine Worship Service at 10 30 led by Rev Marvin Gruett pastor. The notice lists church activities and the pastor for the service.

Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church Swede Home Gerald Leaf vice-pastor announces Good Friday services at Stromsburg Baptist Church with noon to 3:00 p m services. Communion at 8:00 p m on Friday. On Saturday April 21 9:30 to 11:30 a m the Confirmation Class meets. Easter Sunday services Sunday April 22 include Sunday School at 10:00 a m and worship at 11:00 a m. Monday April 23 8:00 p m Calvary Choir practice. Luther League meets Thursday April 26 at 7:30 p m.
The Girls Missionary Guild meets Thursday April 19 at 4 00 p m. The Sunday School Council assembles at 8 00 p m. A Union Good Friday service starts at 3 00 p m. Elmer I Logan is the pastor.
They traveled from Tamora Nebraska after Mary Nelly Newton's burial and halted in Polk before finishing their trip to Denver. Del, a California resident, expects to be in Polk next August for a visit.
Plans for the Polk High School annual alumni banquet list President Anna Kisler and officers with May 29 as the date. Multiple committees are named for program, decorations, dance, invitations, dishes, tables and chairs, and nominations with several local volunteers.
The PTA will meet next Wednesday April 25 in the high school auditorium. Special guest Miss Patsy Jansen will speak on Working Together for the Good of the Handicapped Children, showing slides and pictures. First grade mothers will serve cookies and coffee.
Paul Sagehorn was admitted to Litzenberg Memorial Hospital in Central City on Monday.

William Pinkernell presides over a week of Bible study prayer and choir practices at the Evangelical Free Church. Events include Good Friday service at the Baptist Church noon to 3 pm Easter sunrise for youth at the Methodist Church 6 30 am 11 am services and a grand Easter choir concert followed by a fellowship party and a Midwest District Conference meeting at Holcomb.
Polk business houses will close from 12 noon to 3 pm for Good Friday Union Services at the Baptist Church during those hours.
Beginning at 12:00 noon and ending about 3:00 p.m. a union Good Friday service will be held at Polk Baptist Church with Polk area pastors as speakers. Participants include speakers from Chapman Central City and Hordville and music from seven churches. Attendees may join for any portion of the service.
Beginning this week the library will be open in the evenings and afternoons each Saturday. The change adds Saturday afternoon hours and extends operations into the evening.
A large audience enjoyed the Palm Sunday program led by Rev Johnson Mrs Leota Sneed Strong and music teacher Lashes or Polk Schools directed the chorus in the Hallelujah Chorus.
Mrs. C Marvin Fredrickson was named Polk's 1962 Crusade Chairman for the American Cancer Society announced by Mrs. W V Kosch of the Polk County Unit. The 1962 Crusade, Cancer Progress Year, emphasizes cancer education along with fundraising for vital research. Solicitors will call for donations later this month.
The combined choirs of Arborville Congregational and Central City Friends Church present the Easter cantata Life Everlasting by H. W. Petrie on Sunday night April 22 at 8:00 in Arborville Church. Directed by Floyd Merchant soloists include Myrna Merchant Harriet Bedient Katherine Merchant Selma Mesner Warren Mesner Neil Mesner Lindley Cook with Lois Mesner Florence Kenner in a duet and Erma Mesner at the piano.
Earl Stevens and Douglas were Tuesday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Stevens, sharing an evening gathering with the Stevens family.
The 1962 Polk Cub Annual is $2.00 from Elaine Ostrander. Banquet tickets go on sale May 7 on a first come basis at $1.50, limited quantity, through Pep Club members. Regy Green, Polk’s standout athlete and honor student, was the sole Class D All-State football pick for the Shrine Bowl at Lincoln on August 18, joining the North squad.
William A. Ziegelbein died at Litzenberg Memorial Hospital Central City on Tuesday April 17 1962. Funeral at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Polk at 2:00 p m Thursday April 19 with viewing from noon to 2:00 p m prior to service.
The Polk Methodist WSCS met April 5 in the church parlors with 8 visitors. President Mrs. Mervin Samuels opened with an Easter poem The Last Supper. Reports on Hastings conference and Stromsburg spring meeting were given. An Easter program Call of the Cross was presented by the program committee. A solo was sung by Mrs. Vern Eklund. Refreshments were served by several members.
The April meeting of the WSCS of Swede Plain Methodist church met in the church with 23 members and 1 guest present. Mrs. Elmer Gleim led prayers. Program leaders were Mrs. Lester Widga and Mrs. Verland Widga. An Easter program was presented and refreshments were served by hostesses Mrs. Lennis Lind and others.
Mr and Mrs Wallace Sandell and Diane with Mrs Edith Benson shared Sunday dinner at the Gustafsons. Gordon Glad and family dined with her parents Oscar and Mrs Elge in Aurora. Relatives gathered to celebrate several family birthdays. Baptist Deacons met at the Elwood Sandels home Monday evening with attendees including Don Hanquist Clarence Creech Walter Nelson Wilbur Whitacre and Rev Logan.
