Mr and Mrs J L Stouffer received three German Walkie Talkie radios from their son T-5 Everette L Stouffer stationed in Germany. The units weigh about forty pounds each and include German instruction manuals and code listings. The radios, mailed under an army examiner, will be put on public display at a location to be announced. The son, an army electrician, told his parents he was in Germany this week.

Captain Clifford E. Penrose of the 60th Armored Infantry Ninth Armored Division receives the Silver Star for leading his platoon through four miles of enemy territory with no casualties. 4-H Club Focuses on Poultry and Homemaking Projects
The St Marys 4-H Club met at the rectory and discussed enrollment progress for boys and girls. Poultry work is led by Father Ed Jarowowski with Mrs F Stancyk assisting, and Mrs Hardy Christensen heads the Homemaker program. A film on Commercial Duck Farming was shown and two residents filed applications for certification in inspection. Wool advances totaling 24 cents per shipment were paid to local growers including McMeekin and Ellsworth. About 12,000 Clarke-MibNary trees were ordered for Polk County farms this year.
