Obituary: Mrs Berdessa Huddleston Kahler dies at 87

Berdessa Huddleston Kahler died Sunday in Hastings at age 87. Born Nov 20 1877 to Burl and unknown Huddleston, she married Louie Kahler in 1898 and lived near Shelby before moving to Polk. Survived by 5 children 11 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren 1 sister and many relatives. Funeral held April 20 at Wall Funeral Home Polk with Rev Harold Jensen. interment Polk Cemetery.

Exchangee was speaker at a Legion Hall event with Junior members and guests Mr and Mrs Alex Mills and daughter from Osceola and Miss Audrey Ranwell from near Johannesburg South Africa. May Day observance planned by Polk Commercial Club

Polk Commercial Club members voted to sponsor a May Day event this year. Chairman Albert Sundberg will announce details next week in The Progress. The group, led by Lloyd Stromberg, also discussed a low cost housing project, tennis courts and other topics.
