Thirty high school students have not missed a day of school this year. Freshmen listed include Delores Anderson and others, Sophomores Jolene Doremus and Connie Hoffman, Juniors Janice Anderson and Anita Mundt, Seniors Lanny Ang and Linda Johnson among named individuals.
A sequence of school events runs through April and May including teacher meet Apr 12 and 14 Junior-Senior Banquet, Apr 18 Spring Music Concert, Apr 19 Polk County Track at Polk, Apr 23 Easter Vacation, Apr 25 Jr High Conf Track at Polk, Apr 27 District Music Contest, May 2 Conf Track Meet, May 4 Kindergarten pre-registration, May 7 All-Sports Banquet, May 11 Bacc and practice, May 13 Baccalaureate, May 15 Honors Night, May 17 Last Day, May 18 Commencement and School Picnic.
The high school music department presents a concert next Wednesday evening April 18 at 8 in the high school auditorium. Highlights include the band girls glee club fan solos instrumental and vocal numbers mixed chorus 17 male members and several small vocal ensembles. Admission 50c and 25c.
Mr and Mrs Gwynuel Johnson announce the birth of a son Bradley Dee on April 4 at Litzenberg Memorial hospital Central City weighing 6 pounds 12 ounces. Mr and Mrs Doug Smith Julesburg Colorado announce the birth of a daughter Andrea Diane on April 6 at Julesburg hospital weighing 7 pounds 10 ounces. Mrs Smith is the former Joyce Stevens.

Polk High varsity boys, hosted by K. L. Stewart, enjoyed a Sunday Cinerama screening of The Seven Wonders of the World in Omaha. The group later dined at Hill Top House with coaches Karloff and Schnackenberg and players Eldon Johnson and Don Stewart.

Parks Aker known as P. W. Park s Aker campaigns for the non political state legislature seat representing Polk Hamilton and Clay counties. He orders more campaign cards to inform voters of his eight years on the Clay County board of supervisors nine on the Harvard school board six on the Polk school board and six on the Polk Farmers Co op Elevator board. The 25th district has been without representation since Senator Hans O Jensen resigned to join the federal government.
Mrs. Ronnie Heiden and Barbara Carlson of Lincoln hosted a bridal shower for Miss Doris Scott of Columbus on Saturday evening at Mrs. Harlan Johnson’s home. Mrs. Dick Harless led the games. Guests travelled from Grand Island, Shelby, Columbus and Central City. A lunch followed gift opening.
Marsha Nyberg, daughter of Mr and Mrs Phil Nyberg, won second place in the District Spelling Contest held April 3 in Seward. The Osceola sixth grader competed with Polk County entrants including Vicky Ehn Steve Hollister Jill Newcomer and others, showcasing strong county representation.
The Polk Community Chorus presents the Easter Cantata The Thorn-Crowned King on Palm Sunday at 8 00 P M Soloists include Linda Johnson Mrs James Karloff Mrs Wm Pinkerwell Rev O A Johnson John Nyberg and Dean Lindburg Duets feature Nyberg with Rev Pinkernell Karen Stevens with Linda Johnson and a mixed quartet includes Natalie Hahn Mrs Beverly Bills John Nyberg and Wm Stromberg Guest director Mrs Leota Sneed Strong leads the Hallelujah Chorus The public is invited to attend the concert.
The Trinity Lutheran U L C W held its April meeting with hymn Wide Open are Thy Hands and planned a May 2 service featuring speaker Howard Peterson from Grand Island. May 1 will host a guest night inviting UL CW members from nearby churches.
The Columbus district of the Methodist WSCS met April 3 in Stromsburg with thirteen Swede Plain women and president Mrs B L Ferris presiding. Attendees included Mrs Mervin Samuels Mrs Arlo Stevens Mrs N E McNaught Mrs Wilfred Stephens Mrs Walter Fisher Mrs Paul Strand Mrs C Marvin Frederikson Mrs Earl Stevens Mrs O A Johnson Mrs Ollie Johnson and Mrs Lydia Peterson.
Mr and Mrs Reuben Ehn and Vicki were Sunday afternoon guests of Mr and Mrs Harold Kuck and family at St Libory.
