The Easter special re enacts the Passion and crucifixion with authentic settings. Thomas the apostle leads prisoners through the Last Supper trial and Resurrection. The program airs April 18 on WOW TV Channel 6 at 9 30 am and 11 pm and KHOL TV Channel 13 at 5 pm.
A noon luncheon on Saturday April 17 at Community Hall Polk features Congressman R D Bob Harrison speaking on recent Washington events. Polk County Republican Committee hosts the event with 100 tickets sold first come first served, available at Peterson Market this week.
Pork Boy Scouts enjoyed their first troop outing on Saturday afternoon led by Jerry Stevens. Patrol leaders Gary Green Freddie Dornburgh Joe Hahn Bruce Johnson and Henry Dittmer shared a supper near the Platte River with Scout master Jerry Stevens on Thursday evening.
A secret music concert presented Sunday by the Polk Community Chorus drew an estimated 550 attendees, about 150 more than in recent years, signaling strong local support for the group.
Polk stores will close Friday morning in observance of Good Friday church services. Closing hours are from 9 30 till 12 o clock noon.
Music students from Polk earned nine superior ratings at a recent Albion music contest. Names listed include Sandry Hill, Marie f Lavelle, Joan Deuker, James Adelson, Judy Johnson, Patricia Eisler, Mary Lou Sandell, Shirley Stevens, and Beverly Peetzke among others.
Robert Charles weighing seven pounds was born April 4 at Stromsburg Hospital to Mr and Mrs Roy Glasser Jr in Stromsburg.
John R. Johnston was named superintendent of the Polk Schools on Friday. He was hired at a wage of 5200 and is a Wesleyan University graduate with an MA from the University of Nebraska. He served as principal and coach at Elmwood for two years and as superintendent there for two years. Johnston is married with two sons.
Installation services were held Monday evening at the Osco Baptist Church near Upland Nebraska where Rev Edick Anderson was installed as pastor. Officials of the Baptist Church Conference including Rev Arthur Clark of Omaha state secretary attended. The Andersons are preparing to move their household items next week.
Mr and Mrs Harold Kuck of St Libory and Mr and Mrs Reuben Ehn took Emil Ehn to Omaha on Sunday. Emil Ehn remained in the Methodist Hospital for medical treatment. Mrs M L Johnson visited with Mrs E W Hahn and Alice Finnel on Saturday evening.
The Polk Commercial Club sponsors a community dinner at 7 PM on April 19 at the Community Hall. Mr. Jack Bailey of Grand Island will present pictures from countries and states. Tickets cost 1.50 and are available from local merchants.
A meeting on April 19 at 2 00 p m in the Osceola courthouse court room will discuss grain storage shortages and government bans on On the Farm Storage. It targets grain and lumber dealers and farmers planning more storage, with broad public access. Sponsored by ASC and Extension Service cooperating.

Elwood Anderson pastor leads Polk Baptist Church services with Young People early morning worship and breakfast at 6 30 a m Regular worship at 11 00 a m and an evening service at 7 30 p m featuring two special choir selections
Pastor A. O. Folden leads Sunday School at 10 am with Morning Worship at 11 am Evening Service at 7 30 pm and Midweek Service Thursday evening at the Evangelical Free Church.
Swede Plain Methodist Church hosts Sunrise Service for Youth Fellowship groups from both Methodists. Breakfast follows the services. Morning Worship begins at 10:00 a.m. Sunday School at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Milton O'Connor leads the event.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church invites worshippers for Easter Sunday service at 10:00 a.m. with Holy Communion. Sunday School starts at 9:00 a.m and Easter service follows at 9:30 a.m led by Sup. Pastor John Knippenberg.
Arborville Congregational Church led by Pastor Paul W. Nelson invites congregants to Good Friday services at 8:00 p.m. and an Easter morning service featuring special choir music.
The Arborville Town Hall Club moves its meeting from April 21 to April 28. The Karre Sisters will present their puppet show at the gathering.
