Methodist Rites for Miss Nellie Smith Bride of Lloyd Morrison

Miss Nellie Jeanne Smith and Lloyd Wesley Morrison wed at Grace Methodist Church Lincoln in front of 200 guests. Rev A Trowbridge officiated at 4 pm as orange blossoms framed the altar. Cameron bouquets and pink Pearl satin gown highlighted the ceremony. Best man Robert Morrison and ushers Harold McNabb John Kline Jack Knight assisted. Reception followed in church parlors with Mrs Knight Elaine Carrel Artemise Smith Jane Tuttle and Mrs Tr Knight helping. Morrison, a Sigma Phi Epsilon member, is son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Morrison. Miss Smith attends University of Nebraska.

Polk County Returns Show Stassen Lead In Race

As we go to press Wednesday complete Polk County returns are not available. Indications show Stassen ahead of Dewe in the county with Anderson leading Moon and Jensen third in the Legislature race. Carpenter trails Anderson for Congress while in the Third District Fillman leads Peterson by a comfortable margin. Complete figures will be published next week.

Dairy Lane notes from York Polk Hamilton DUA test herd

York Polk Hamilton DUA reports 23 herds under test with 355 cows on trial and a herd production average of 1308 pounds milk and 39.1 pounds butterfat for the month. Lavelle Lamoree’s herd ranks third among the 23, eight cows sold for low production, and artificial insemination services expand to several farms as vaccine and testing push proceed.

Legion Auxiliary Holds Regular Meeting Activities Noted

The American Legion Auxiliary met Monday afternoon April 12 in club rooms. A $5 donation to the cancer fund and $3 for drapes at the Veterans Hospital were approved. A sewing program for the Lincoln Veterans Hospital was voted. May 1 is Poppy Day and members will hand out poppies.

Social visits and gatherings fill Arborville area weekend

Mr and Mrs Stanley Peterson host a busy weekend with Flynn Merchant family and many guests. Attendees include Mr and Mrs John Hanson, Mr and Mrs Dinner Hansen, Eddie Hansen, Verner Alquist family, Martin Hoffman jr and Connie, Ester Lackey, John Bills, Henry Renquist, and others at various dinners and outings around Arborville. A Blue Valley Pilgrims Rally, Rebekah Lodge sessions, and local theater also mark the weekend social calendar with numerous local residents attending from Stromsburg York Central City and surrounding areas.

Polk Schools Host Latin Banquet and Music Contest

The Sophomore and Freshmen Latin Classes enjoyed a Roman themed banquet with costumes and a varied menu. Polk High students prepared for the District Music Contest in Atkinson April 16 and 17 with judges from the University of Nebraska music program and expected entries from about 25 schools.
