Peterson Earns Bronze Star For Heroic Minefield Clear
Pfc. Virgil G. Peterson, 23, Bradshaw Nebraska, received the Bronze Star from the Fifth Army in Italy for heroism on the front. He cleared 35 to 40 mines under heavy fire, risking his life for nearly two hours to allow supply trains to move forward. Peterson was a farmer before enlisting in October 1948. his mother, Mrs Helena Peterson, lives on Route 1.

Charles D. Perkins age 87 died at his Bradshaw area home Friday after a yearlong illness. Survived by wife Electa four sons Lloyd of Arborville e c Hastings Francis of Grand Island Roy of Bradshaw 31 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. One son and one daughter preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Monday.
