Local Methodist Church to Dedicate New Organ Next Sunday

The Polk Methodist Church plans a Sunday program with the Hammond organ chimes and amplifying system dedication at 3 pm and the church’s 30th anniversary observance. Rev A V Hunter will preach in the morning, Albert Sundberg honors trustees, and a basket dinner precedes the 1 30 pm quarterly conference with voting by members.

Easter Visitorsand Travelers in Stromsburg Area

Darrell Williams left for California after a weekend with his parents. Robert Simms accompanied him from Great Lakes Illinois. Catherine of Lincoln visited Easter with Mrs Lunner. Phyllis Steever spent vacation with her parents. Mrs Robert Burton visited from Sherman Wyoming. Ida Shustrum and Ruth from Lincoln and Omaha attended Easter dinner. Leo A Larson visited Heltzman family near Silver Creek. Duane Ready and family spent Easter with Ira Ready. Carlson family hosted Easter dinner and supper with Rystrom and Aaron Carlson households.

Arborville social notes and club meeting report

Local residents visit families and welcome guests from Alliance Benedict Lincoln York and Loveland Colorado. The Arborville Town Hall Club meets April 16 at 8 p m, bringing pie. Twentieth Century Club held a garden and flowers program with 12 members and 10 visitors, refreshments served.

Honored at Shower for Mrs Gordon Fossburg

Mrs Gordon Fossburg, a recent bride, was guest of honor at a nuptial shower hosted by Mrs Wallace Sandell. March 28th hostesses included Mrs Don Upton and Mrs John Adams, both of Hastings, and Mrs Frank Davis. About thirty five friends attended with games and a school program. Gifts were many and gifts were useful. Tas ty refreshments were served. Out of town guests included Mrs McNeilly and Mrs Carroll of Fullerton. Mr and Mrs Fossburg will live at Oxford Nebraska.

The WCTU plans a local institute at the Methodist church parlors in Osceola at 2 p m on Thursday April 10. County president Mrs John Falk of Stromsburg and Rev Maurice Stevenson of the Lutheran church will speak guests may enjoy several musical numbers.

Theodore Klute dies at 57 in Grand Island

Theodore F W Klute of Polk area died Monday at Lutheran Hospital Grand Island at age 57. Born February 7 1890 in Hampton Nebraska he lived in the Polk Hampton area his whole life. Survived by wife Alma son Kenneth daughter Mrs Raymond Kohtz granddaughter Diane Kay Kohtz four brothers and four sisters. Funeral was held at home then Zion Lutheran Church northeast of Hampton with Rev Frese officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Edick Anderson Jr. Calls From Germany Easter Greeting

Edick A. Anderson Jr., son of Rev. and Mrs. Edick A. Anderson, of Polk, spoke from Berlin, Germany, to send Easter wishes and birthday greetings to his mother on March 4. He described his promotion to the Finance Division of OMGUS and noted he is well and cared for while planting a garden with vegetables he had missed for over a year.

Rev E B Eaton arrives from Scranton to lead Arborville and Clarke pastorates. Easter Storm Ends. Bonnet Parade Draws Large Crowds

A heavy wind and rain storm raged all day Saturday but abated by Sunday morning. Despite the chill sun returned and temperatures rose, with many Easter bonnet parades and sunrise services held indoors or canceled, drawing large crowds to Polk churches.

Polk High School Pre Contest Program Set for April 15

Polk High School Music Department presents an eight o clock April 15 program in the high school auditorium. Nineteen numbers include vocal solos by Sundberg Green Forss Volz and Dahlin and instrumental solos by Bates Jones Lind Benson Johnson Miller Sealey. Four small ensembles and a 62 member mixed chorus plus 54 piece band perform before proceeds fund contest transportation costs.

Wilshusen Blase Nuptials In Polk Easter Sunday

Miss Louise Wilshusen daughter of Emil Wilshusen and Carl M Blase son of Mr and Mrs W Blase married in an Easter Sunday ceremony at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
