Mrs H H Reckmeyer dies of heart ailment at 83
Maranda Heitzman Reckmeyer born February 21 1864 in Urban Northumberland County Pennsylvania died March 28 1947 at age 83 years 1 month and 7 days. She moved with her family to Columbus Nebraska in 1873 later to a valley farm near Osceola and married Herman H Reckmeyer on November 27 1884. Survived by daughters Vera and Vida Beckmeyer Marguerite Sheets grandchildren and siblings with funeral held March 1947 at the family home conducted by Rev G Randall. Burial in Osceola cemetery. Pallbearers named.

Senior Class Play Welcomes Large Audience Friday
A large audience attended the Senior Class Play on Friday night March 28. After the performance, Arthur Bates invited seniors to a party at his home. Normal Trainers are teaching at rural schools this week. Portraits were taken by O’Neill Photo Company of Albion. No school Friday for Good Friday. Bagster vacation begins Wednesday, April 2. Football players held a weiner roast at Mission Camp Grounds and a theatre party sponsored by the Commercial Club.

The Merry Mixers 4-H club met March 20 at Bethel and Donald Fullinger home. Girls under Mrs Glen Richards near completion of Sewing Boxes in 4-H colors and plan to sew tea towels next. The sod house defined early Nebraska housing as settlers faced a treeless frontier east of the Eighty Mile Meridian. Dugouts, above ground sod homes, and even two story structures used turf, with crude frames, sod roofs, dirt floors, and prairie materials.
