In Tuesday's school election 233 ballots were cast. Dale Lindburg and Dean Ostberg won three year terms with tallies of 127 and 143 respectively. other candidates were Dale Lindburg and Dean Ostberg. In the village election 154 voters chose three trustees for two year terms: Norris Alfred, C. Marvin Fredrickson, and Dick Harless.

ASCS Announces 1964 Reseal Program Details
The ASCS office announces a one year 1964 reseal program for corn from 1960 to 1963 wheat from 1960 to 1963 and grain sorghum for 1961 to 1963. Storage rates remain 14 cents per bushel for corn and wheat and 24 cents per cwt for grain sorghum. Intention cards have been mailed and producers should mark reseal or delivery and return promptly to start grain inspections.

Barty Nyberg Returns From Active Duty
Barty Nyberg was discharged from active duty in the U S Army March 27. He served four months on active duty after eight weeks of basic training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri and two months at Fort Knox Kentucky. On his way home he visited A A Darwin Hahn at the Naval Air Station in Norfolk Virginia.

Reading Is the Key Library Week Observance in Polk
Polk’s library, housed in the hotel basement under Librarian Mrs. Sundberg, hosts Nat ional Library Week April 12 to 18. It holds about 2 500 volumes across fiction biographies children’s books encyclopedias and non fiction with 175 library cards issued and 1963 loans of 600 children’s and 120 adult books. The town tax funds the library though donations and memorial purchases add titles. Open Wednesdays and Saturdays 2 00 to 5 00 PM and Saturdays 7 00 to 9 00 PM.

The 37th session of Rebekah District 14 was held on Saturday April 4 at Bellwood. Eight Polk lodge members attended with 82 registered for the day-long session. Guests came from St. Edward Omaha Gordon Waco Fremont Gresham and Lincoln lodges. Mildred Teegerstrom of Stromsburg past LAPM president was honored as guest from Polk. Local lodge elected Josephine Ostberg Ruth Miller and Ella Cramer to district offices for the coming year.

Polk Wins First Triangular Track Meet of Season
Polk High won a triangular meet on its home track scoring 74 points while Silver Creek had 30 and Clarkson 21. Polk top finishers included Reckner in the 100 and 440 yards Johnson in 60 yard high hurdles Sealey in 100 yard low hurdles Hanquist in 880 yard dash Sterner in discus broad jump and high jump plus both the 880 and mile relay teams.

Lois Johnson represents the Lincoln branch of the Association for Childhood Education at the 35th annual study conference in Portland Oregon from March 29 to April 3. The event drew about 2000 teachers administrators parents and others. Johnson is assistant principal at Meadow Lane Elementary School in Lincoln.
