New Polk County Livestock Feeders Association Organized

The Polk County Livestock Feeders Association was officially formed at the Polk County Country Club. Sixty eight Polk County farmers and businessmen attended a meal and program by Jerry Bush that emphasized effort yields. Eight board members were elected to represent four county quarters with Glenn Dobberstein as president and Vernon Boden as secretary treasurer.

Johnson Family Reunion Held in Omaha

The Johnson family reunion gathered at Dr. Doyle Gustafson's home in Omaha over March 22 23 with members from Missouri Colorado and Nebraska. Attendees included Leon Gail Elwyn Dean Gordon Gwynuel and Rudolph Johnson as well as Rudolph Gustafson marking his 49th wedding anniversary.

Polk County Social Notes Reach Hampton and Stromsburg

Mrs Hilmer Jones spent Friday and Saturday at Hampton with her son and family. Mr and Mrs Leland Jones and Mr and Mrs Paul Strand visited in the Forrest Berggren home in Stromsburg. Milton Anderson and Don Peter son of Stromsburg returned from a Las Vegas trip. Mr and Mrs Donald Hanquist and Clarence Bolton families visited Laura Bolton. Byron Terrell of Stromsburg joined Roger Hanquist for coffee after the Community Chorus concert.

Faithful Workers Elect Officers

The Faithful Workers Club met at Esther Larson's home on Wednesday March 26 with fourteen members and three visitors present. President Anita Norquest led the business meeting. Della Hoffman organized a house warming style program for the remodeled Larson home. New officers were Mildred Norquest president Esther Larson vice president Ella Cramer secretary and Florence Hoffman treasurer. Mrs Maynard Miller joined as a new member. Mrs Sherman Wilshusen won the hostess gift. Refreshments were served by Esther Larson and co host Mildred Norquest. Mr and Mrs Greg Abbott of Osceola visited the Larry Killion home on Sunday.

Local residents host birthday, church and family visits

A sequence of social calls and visits across Stroms burg and surrounding towns highlights birthday celebrations, family gatherings, and funeral attendance. Guests include Carroll Flodman and Robin Flodman in Stroms burg, Gustafsons in Central City and Rudolph Gustafson, Hanquists with Harold Hanquist, Ramseys with Hoffman, and Lunds visiting Johnsons in Osceola Aurora and York hospital.

Polk County U S Savings Bonds Feb sales total 21713

U S Savings Bonds and Freedom Shares in Polk County sold 21 713 during February, 12.2 percent of the 1969 goal, with two month county total 28 299. Statewide February sales reached 4 090 202 and two month total 8 271 089, 16.3 percent of annual quota.

Community Hosts and Guests Share Weekend Gatherings

Supr guests included Rev Wood and family with the Akers and Lind couples. Lincolns Vicki Bjerrum and Linda Nelson attended a junior class play while many families visited churches, attended spring concerts, and hosted dinners and spelling contests across Central City, Kearney, Stromsburg, and surrounding areas.
