Mrs. W H Venner hosted her nephew and wife Will and Mrs. Eccles who returned from the Century of Progress in Chicago. Eccles, born near Plattsmouth and raised in Beatrice, is a University of Nebraska graduate and civil engineer. They left for Beatrice then on to Roswell New Mexico, their current home.

Robbery at Merchants National Bank Nebraska City
Robbers held up the Merchants National Bank of Nebraska City between noon and 12 15 pm taking an unknown amount of cash and bonds. Two employees and a man customer were inside as three strangers entered with revolvers and a machine gun and forced them to surrender. They fled in a car westward releasing two men before the city limits. The third man was released four miles north of the city after the heist. Sheriff and deputies searched highways but no suspects found by 2 30 pm.

City Clerk's Hunting Trip Ends Far From Omaha

Death of Oscar Peterson at Nebraska Masonic Home
Oscar Peterson aged 73 died at the Nebraska Masonic Home in Omaha where he had lived since 1926. Born May 11 1860 in Denmark he moved to the United States at age 24 and later served as custodian of the Masonic temple and Scottish Rite building. He was a member of Covert lodge No 11 A F and A M. Funeral services will be held in Omaha Thursday under lodge auspices.
