Hans Sievers Dies Here After Long Community Service
Hans Sievers longtime Plattsmouth custodian of the county courthouse died Wednesday afternoon after illness from a cold and flu. Born January 6 1866 in Germany he came to the United States and settled in Plattsmouth in the 1880s. He married Anna Marie Thode in 1890 and leaves his widow three daughters Mrs William Heldman Fargo ND Mrs Sanford Short Plattsmouth and Mrs William Warnhof Emblem WY plus several grandchildren. He was active in the Ancient Order of United Workmen and the I O O F.

Book Shower at the Library Proves Success
Plattsmouth public library September report shows 56 new borrowers and 3 268 books exchanged. Despite a 522 book decrease from 1932, the same average daily circulation with three fewer open days is noted. By Oct 18 the book shower total is 187, with most usable on shelves and duplicates to be passed to a neighboring library. Contributions include gifts from local groups for children's and reference books. NRA articles from Mentor magazine will be mounted for circulation, and children's reading in Miss Muenster and Miss Cook rooms reaches 100 percent for the quarter.

Lincoln area preparations for Burlington’s new stainless steel train include rebuilt tracks near Lincoln St Joseph and Kansas City.
