Betty 3 year old daughter of Mr and Mrs L C Sharp suffered severe burns in a mishap. The incident left the child badly burned and receiving medical care. Authorities reviewed the accident to determine causes and prevent recurrence at home.
The Armours, famed from South Town, defeated the Red Sox 14 to 0 in Omaha. Read Sox were blanked in the first inning and struggled thereafter as Armours hitters produced runs with ease amid errors. Mason starred for the Red Sox with several strong plays, while Andy Graves kept the locals hitless.
Val Burkle, his wife and sister Miss Chrissie Burkle of Lincoln depart yesterday afternoon for Portsmouth Ohio. They were summoned by the serious illness of Miss Anna Burkle, sister to Mr and Miss Burkle, who is in very critical condition.
Delivery day at the T UW Poliockh Auto Co brought several new Ford models to owners Frank H. Johnson of Weeping Water, William Kreayver near Murray, and Henry Lutz of this city. Orders pour in as demand exceeds supply, with Poliockh Auto receiving as many cars as possible for customers.
A smouldering coal pile behind the Plattsmouth Steam Laundry caused early morning smoke and a fire alarm at about 2:30 a.m. Residents feared a blaze until Mr Harris, the owner, confirmed the fire was not in the laundry. The alarm woke many locals including the reporter on scene.
Heavy travel on dusty roads between towns and Omaha leads to several minor crashes. A Studebaker from Omaha veered off the bank near Fort Crook crossing, occupants uninjured. A Ford north of Fort Crook ran off road into a ditch and struck a telephone pole.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ed ward Maybee were held Sunday afternoon at 3 50 at the First Methodist Episcopal church with Rev. A W Hunter delivering comforting words. Mrs B H Wescott sang hymns aided by Mason Wescott on the piano. Interment followed at Oak Hill cemetery.
Paul Long son of Mr and Mrs R W Long of near Mynard has returned home from Omaha where he had been for a short time at a hospital. He is feeling much improved and friends are pleased to have him back with them.
Rue Frans of Union appeared in the county seat today to handle several important local business matters.
Old neighbors gathered at the White homestead near Keck Bluffs to bid farewell as the White family plans to move to California. About seventy five residents attended a morning surprise picnic with a noon dinner under shade trees, including Cass County pioneers George W. Shrader and the Heil and Fitch families.
The young men of the Methodist church bible class held a secret welcome home for their teacher E H Wescott in the church basement after his six week stay in Los Angeles. Byron Babbitt and Jesse Perrys organized the event and cleaned the rooms, with a special solo by Don York enjoyed by all.
The local Daughters of Rebekah lodge hosted a near city wide initiation with Omaha drill team performing the ritual. About 100 attended including twenty from Weeping Water and a group from Ashland for a memorable evening with refreshments afterward. William J Rau of Manney Bank visited to attend county commissioners matters.
Patrick Eagan and his wife left this morning for Seneca Nebraska after visiting relatives and friends. Mr Eagan will resume work at the Burlington round house in Seneca.
Mr and Mrs Michael Kelly of Lincoln were killed when Burlington fast eastbound No 2 struck their auto east of Greenwood near the elevator. The couple, en route to their farm, died instantly. Edward Kelly, a Notre Dame student, was en route from the eastern school to Lincoln for the funeral arrangements.
Nebraska quota set at 215,798 pounds as state advisory boards formed nationwide. Business leaders from six walks of life organize drives to fund the Army’s humanitarian work and curb street corner begging. Solicitors appointed for each precinct to raise the money.
A county court petition seeks a determination of heirship for Eleanora Felts, who lived near Greenwood. The heirs listed include her husband and five children. Felts owned two Greenwood Lots now bought by William Clyde Newkirk who seeks a clear title through the court action.
Tom Moore president of the dominion trades and labor congress told delegates from the United States and Canada at the ninth biennial convention of the international Brotherhood of Pulp Sulphite and Paper Mill Workers that the one big union harms capital policies and delays progress in many communities.

Greenwood Meat Market thanks patrons for past support and invites continued business. With a newly installed machine and updated methods, they offer winter fruits vegetables and a just unlocked car of salt for curing meats, pledging ready service to customers.
The Moreland Theater in Plattsmouth Nebraska informs patrons that it has contracted for major “big specials” from Pathe Hodkinson Universal First National Paramount and Fox. Prices will rise by 10 to 15 cents for these costly features while cheaper pictures costing under $100 to show will have no price increase.
The Murray State Bank will collect all accounts in Murray to cut mailing costs. Patrons should pay their accounts at the bank effective with the September 1920 accounts. Nebraska Gas & Electric Company.
