Passing of Albert Des Pain today in Plattsmouth

The community mourns Albert D. Despain longtime Plattsmouth resident and carpenter age noted in obituary. Born in Illinois he lived in San Bernede and Mill County before settling in Plattsmouth with family. He was a 27 year member of Plattsmouth Lodge No 1 A F and A M and active in Nebraska chapters. Funeral from the family home Friday at 2 pm with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Presbyterian Auxiliary Meeting Delights Members

The Presbyterian ladies met in the church parlors on Wednesday afternoon hosted by Mesdames W. T. Chle, W. A. Newell, and H. J. Straight. Decorated with fall tones, they enjoyed social time, discussed society affairs, and were served refreshments, signaling a pleasant gathering.

Stranger Detained After Drinking Disorder in Pintsmouth

A man named Jack Haley of Omaha was found intoxicated after curfew near the Morehead meeting. He protested as Officer Alvin Jones detained him, and he was booked at the police court with a $100 fine plus costs, plus 5 dollars in court fees.

A quiet wedding occurred at the Maynard Tu. B. personage at noon in October between Dr. Guy E. Romans of Omaha and Miss Alta I Geary of Omaha. Witnesses included C. TD. Geary and Miss Mary Wetenkanp. Rev. E. H. Pontius officiated. The couple will reside west of Mynard then Omaha.

The eighth annual district convention met with fifty delegates from fourteen corps in Plattsmouth city. Mrs George Dodge presided in Mrs Val Burkle’s absence as district president attended by Fontenelle chapter DAR. Officers elected include Minnie Williams Blair president and Beulah Davis Omaha senior vice president with next meeting planned for Blair in 1921.

Tragic death of Russell Wiles in corn elevator accident

Russell Wiles twelve died Saturday in Weeping Water when he stepped toward a grain chute while a car loaded with corn was in motion. A companion and worker Frank Taylor tried to help but could not reach him in time. The funeral was held at the family home this afternoon.

West of Murray exhibitor wins grand champion at Weeping Water show

Sears Davis of Maple Grove farm from west of Murray earned a grand champion ribbon at the Fure Bred Stock show in Weeping Water. A herd of four pure breed Sherhorn cattle won prizes with a yearling bull and a yearling heifer each taking first place. A cow in the herd produced the grand champion bull and heifer. An advertisement for stock for sale appears in another column.

Personal damages suit filed over 1959 collision

A. M. Eaton, a used car dealer, sues Henry V. McDonald in U.S. court for 15900 dollars claiming McDonald drove recklessly at over twenty mph, striking Eaton’s truck at Eighteenth Street August 28 1959. Eaton alleges two fractured ribs back injuries and a kidney injury with three days bed rest and medical costs. The suit cites a July 1 1978 city ordinance on speeding. This is reportedly the first personal damages case in the court.

The meeting, presided by Falier, featured Mrs. McKelvie criticizing the Democratic nominee Governor Daniel M Miss. Excellent Road Work Near River Ferry Completed

The road widening toward the Misenur river ferry, begun last week, is finished up to the bluff area. Partridge of Weeping Water trimmed a 40 by 20 foot strip, finishing quickly and cheaply. Fred Valery and his tractor will finish eroding the bottom road and proceed along the bluff section where blasting occurred.
