The community mourns Albert D. Despain longtime Plattsmouth resident and carpenter age noted in obituary. Born in Illinois he lived in San Bernede and Mill County before settling in Plattsmouth with family. He was a 27 year member of Plattsmouth Lodge No 1 A F and A M and active in Nebraska chapters. Funeral from the family home Friday at 2 pm with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The Presbyterian ladies met in the church parlors on Wednesday afternoon hosted by Mesdames W. T. Chle, W. A. Newell, and H. J. Straight. Decorated with fall tones, they enjoyed social time, discussed society affairs, and were served refreshments, signaling a pleasant gathering.
Attorney C. E. Tefft of Weeping Water was in town this morning to handle a few business matters before the Contiv court.
W T Richardson of Mynard writes insurance for Farmers Mutual of Lincoln and lists contact at phone 2411 for policy inquiries and local service.
Announcement of a thoroughbred hog sale by R. W. Porter near Weeping Water on Saturday October 5 at his farm. Porter, a leading Poland China breeder, has won ten ribbons at the Cass County Stock Show, offering high grade stock for county farmers.
Fred H. Gorder former mayor of Weeping Water and Democratic candidate for the county commission in the third district spent a few hours in the city visiting friends and handling business. He says his entry into the race comes after host urging and aims to serve Cass County with his long business record and local roots.
A man named Jack Haley of Omaha was found intoxicated after curfew near the Morehead meeting. He protested as Officer Alvin Jones detained him, and he was booked at the police court with a $100 fine plus costs, plus 5 dollars in court fees.
A quiet wedding occurred at the Maynard Tu. B. personage at noon in October between Dr. Guy E. Romans of Omaha and Miss Alta I Geary of Omaha. Witnesses included C. TD. Geary and Miss Mary Wetenkanp. Rev. E. H. Pontius officiated. The couple will reside west of Mynard then Omaha.
Searl Davis of 6t sw Murray Nebraska offers two purebred short horn bulls and several purebred Jersey boars for immediate delivery and service.

The eighth annual district convention met with fifty delegates from fourteen corps in Plattsmouth city. Mrs George Dodge presided in Mrs Val Burkle’s absence as district president attended by Fontenelle chapter DAR. Officers elected include Minnie Williams Blair president and Beulah Davis Omaha senior vice president with next meeting planned for Blair in 1921.
Russell Wiles twelve died Saturday in Weeping Water when he stepped toward a grain chute while a car loaded with corn was in motion. A companion and worker Frank Taylor tried to help but could not reach him in time. The funeral was held at the family home this afternoon.
Sears Davis of Maple Grove farm from west of Murray earned a grand champion ribbon at the Fure Bred Stock show in Weeping Water. A herd of four pure breed Sherhorn cattle won prizes with a yearling bull and a yearling heifer each taking first place. A cow in the herd produced the grand champion bull and heifer. An advertisement for stock for sale appears in another column.

From Friday's Daily the Avards report they are returning to the United States with their son Dickie after a stay in Eveland. They sailed with Mr and Mrs John Meleyn on November 2nd and now find the local conditions unsuitable for remaining. They plan to settle back in their adopted land, the United States, after considering Christmas plans.

A. M. Eaton, a used car dealer, sues Henry V. McDonald in U.S. court for 15900 dollars claiming McDonald drove recklessly at over twenty mph, striking Eaton’s truck at Eighteenth Street August 28 1959. Eaton alleges two fractured ribs back injuries and a kidney injury with three days bed rest and medical costs. The suit cites a July 1 1978 city ordinance on speeding. This is reportedly the first personal damages case in the court.
The meeting, presided by Falier, featured Mrs. McKelvie criticizing the Democratic nominee Governor Daniel M Miss. Mrs. McKelvie called for a world league to prevent future warfare and cited church leaders supporting disarmament. Morehead lamented Meelvie era taxes, urged tax cuts, enforcement of laws, and local control of policing, drawing audience approval.
Funeral services for Albert B Despain were held from his Pearl street home with a Christian Science service and a Masonic graveside rite. Plattsmouth lodge No 6 A F and A M led the service, Knights Templar provided escort, Past Master W A Robertson presided, with pallbearers from Masonry and many old friends in attendance.
The McCrary Priveit family thanks friends and neighbors for support after the loss of their brother and son. They especially thank Mr. Wolf for his kindness and those who sent flowers.
Governor S R McKelvie will speak to voters at District Court Road on Wednesday evening October 1st at 8 o clock. George W Shrader visited the city today for a few hours on business and to see old friends. Philip Keil was in the city today for a short visit while driving from his home.
A kindergarten birthday party for seven year old Wilhelmsing at Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Shirk’s home featured outdoor games, autumn decorations, and musical selections. Guests included Jean Hives, Maxine Koidn, Edna Summerfield, Charlotte Field, Morva Masield, Catherine, and others who exchanged tokens and best wishes.
The road widening toward the Misenur river ferry, begun last week, is finished up to the bluff area. Partridge of Weeping Water trimmed a 40 by 20 foot strip, finishing quickly and cheaply. Fred Valery and his tractor will finish eroding the bottom road and proceed along the bluff section where blasting occurred.

Yesterday the county board, with County Clerk George Savies, toured the county farm to review Superintendent J. Tams and the farm's condition. Mrs. Tams is noted as a capable assistant and the board enjoyed a supper at the farm.
