Harris Cook, born January 1, 1892, of Plattsmouth Nebraska, died in Chicago after a Northwestern University initiation. He was a law student at Northwestern, son of Dr. Edwin W. Cook and Mrs. Mary Cook, grandson of Mrs. Catherine Hawksworth, and a member of multiple fraternal orders. His death follows his father’s recent passing and his mother’s relocation plans back to Plattsmouth. Funeral plans are pending with services expected at his Hawksworth family home.

A 1:15 PM fire at the Ed Mason residence corner Third and Vine destroyed the east roof section and upper rooms. Neighbors aided in saving furniture while the city fire department using a chemical apparatus controlled flames quickly. The home, formerly owned by Mrs. Kate Oliver, suffered extensive roof loss estimated in the hundreds of dollars.
