Legion Team Battles Thorpians For Turkey Day Tie

The local American Legion football team went one win one loss and one tie in a shortened three game season due to weather. Thorpians from Omaha visited, and the Legion fought hard but failed to capitalize on passes, finishing with a 0–0 tie in yesterday’s forenoon finale after earlier 6–0 loss to Blair and 20–0 win over Have-Seck. Bell starred late, racing 30 yards before being tackled.

Night School Planned at Plattsmouth

Plattsmouth school announces potential two night per week program from 7 30 to 9 30 pm. One hour periods cover Commercial Domestic Science Manual Training and Academic subjects, plus a Citizenship class. Shoe repair shop changes hands in city

Howard Stennett sold his shoe repair store to Richard Jivard, a former owner who just returned from England. Avard will run the shop now located in Edward Donat's building on Fourth street and serve old and new customers. Stennett plans to move to Grand Island in the western part of the state.

Harris Cook Laid to Rest on Wednesday

Funeral services for David Harris Cook were held at his grandmother's home with Masonic Knights Templar American Legion and local lodge members in attendance. The Rev W S Leete officiated at St Luke's Church and at Oak Hill cemetery pallbearers and Masonic fraternal groups honored the deceased. The grave service featured hymns and a quartet, with flowers expressing community affection for the young man and condolences to his mother.

Tonsil Removals Performed By Dr. Leopold

Thanksgiving Observances Highlight City Celebrations

Thanksgiving was widely celebrated with ideal weather and family gatherings. Miss Katherine Reynolds McCormick of New York spoke on Armenian suffering under Turkish conquest at a joint city church service at First Methodist. Evening dances by Eagles, T J Sokol, and K E G clubs drew large crowds and out-of-town guests.

Masonic Home Residents Enjoy Dick DeFord Orchestra Concert

The Plattsmouth lodge No. 6 A. F. & A. M. brought in Dick DeFord and his orchestra for an hour long concert at the Masonic Home in the west part of the city. Superintendent W. F. Evers and staff praised the event as a memorable pleasure for residents who are largely shut in from city life. The article urges monthly winter entertainment for the elderly.

Fire Warden Orders Removal of Fire Dangers in City

The State Fire Warden calls for demolitions in the city including the old Smith greenhouse at Sixth and Wind streets and the two frame houses of the Dovey estate. Plattsmouth High School trounced the School for the Deaf of Omaha 40 to 0 in a season finale. Sattler Schneider and Dovey starred with strong passing and rushing as the seniors capped a first football season since 1907 with a win.

Girls Honor Mothers With Banquet At Methodist Church

Wah-Wah-Taysee campfire girls hosted a Mother’s Banquet at the Methodist church parish hall. Red and white decor and a menu including creamed chicken and mashed potatoes framed the event.
