Mail Car Robbery in Council Bluffs Arrest Report
Fred E. Poffenberger, nineteen, of Council Bluffs, is arrested by federal officers for involvement in the mail car robbery. He reportedly confesses to opening a mail sack containing about three quarters of a million dollars in government bonds and to aiding the robbery. Postal inspectors say unopened sacks contained 426000 and 430000 in different sacks, with a total around a million cited by a newspaper.

Louis G Eickhoff longtime Cass county resident and former county treasurer dies in Enid Oklahoma after a long illness. Born in Hanover Germany on April 15 1847 he came to America in 1859 settled near Louisville and served as Cass county treasurer two terms. He married Sophia Frinke in 1867 and later remarried leaving a widow and several children.

A clergyman of the Evangelical church remained in his faith until death. Funeral services will be held in Enid on Saturday with burial there. Daughter Mrs Schmidt had left for Oklahoma and arrived just before the father’s death.
